This happens because every single HTML element in the world belongs to one of two fundamental display families:

Imagine a big, wide wooden bench in your classroom.
- Once a desk is placed, it takes up the full width of that row.
- Nobody can squeeze another desk next to it on the exact same row.
- The next student's desk must start on a fresh new row behind it!
In HTML, Block-level elements act just like those heavy desks:
- They always start on a brand new line.
- They stretch out horizontally to claim the full 100% width of the screen or container, even if the text inside is just one short word!
2. The Inline Element = Pencil Box & Water Bottle on the Desk βοΈ
Now, look at the surface of your classroom desk.
- You place your geometry box on the desk.
- Next to it, on the exact same line, you place your water bottle.
- Next to that, you place your eraser.
They don't push each other down to the floor! They sit side-by-side peacefully because they only take up as much space as their own size requires.
In HTML, Inline elements act just like your pencil box and bottle:
- They stay on the same line alongside neighboring words and elements.
- They only take up as much width as their text or image physically needs!
