Layer 3: Pluggable Storage Engine Layer
- A unique architectural feature of MySQL is its Pluggable Storage Engine API.
- The server core does not know or care how bytes are saved on disk. It asks the storage engine: "Give me the next row matching key = 105."
- InnoDB (Default): ACID-compliant, supports foreign keys, row-level locking, and crash recovery.
- Memory Engine: Stores tables entirely in RAM for ultra-fast temporary lookups (lost on server reboot).
