Presentation: Creating a New Presentation and Templates (प्रेजेंटेशन परिचय)

A Presentation is a visual communication tool consisting of a sequence of digital pages called Slides (स्लाइड्स) designed to display text, graphics, charts, sound, and animations on large screens or projectors.

In the NIELIT CCC exam, questions cover both LibreOffice Impress (FOSS) and Microsoft PowerPoint.

2. Creating a Presentation in LibreOffice Impress

When you launch LibreOffice Impress:

  • The "Select a Template" dialog appears automatically, allowing you to choose from beautiful pre-built styles (Inspiration, Focus, Vivid, Blue Curve).
  • You can also choose to start with a clean Blank Presentation (खाली स्लाइड).
  • Default presentation filename: Untitled 1.
  • Default file extension: .odp (OpenDocument Presentation) in Impress; .pptx in MS PowerPoint.

3. Slide Aspect Ratios (स्लाइड आकार)

Modern presentations support two standard aspect ratios:

  • 16:9 Widescreen (16:9 वाइडस्क्रीन - डिफ़ॉल्ट): Designed for modern flat-screen LED TVs, monitors, and modern widescreen projectors.
  • 4:3 Standard (4:3 पारंपरिक): The classic square-like ratio used by legacy CRT monitors and older classroom overhead projectors.

4. Inserting New Slides and Duplicating

  • Keyboard Shortcut to Insert a New Slide (CCC Super Question):
  • Ctrl + M (Both in LibreOffice Impress and MS PowerPoint!).
  • (Do not confuse with Ctrl + N, which creates an entirely new presentation file!).
  • Duplicate Slide: Creates an exact clone of the active slide.
  • Delete Slide: Select the slide thumbnail in the Slide Pane and press the Delete key.
